Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. (SALA) provides free, civil legal services to low-income Arizonans across nine counties and 11 Native American communities within a footprint of approximately 33,000 square miles. Our main office is in Tucson, and we have offices in Casa Grande, Sacaton, Lakeside, Whiteriver, and Bisbee.
The primary function of the Donor Coordinator is donor cycle of fundraising coordination. The Donor Coordinator will be expected to manage, cultivate and expand SALA’s individual donor base under the direction of and in coordination with the Director of Development.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and cultivate current donors using the ask, thank, report, ask, cycle:
Ask: Create and implement a direct mail, social media and email solicitation program to build a base of new donors and to keep current donors engaged and giving to SALA;
Thank: Track incoming donations and ensure timely, tailored thank yous; Also create thank you opportunities through planning and helping to host donor appreciate events several times a year;
Report: Create engaging informational and educational materials and opportunities that will go out/happen in between Asks and that update donors about how their donations make a difference.
Work closely with the Director of Development to determine donor development priorities, and assist in creating the annual Development Plan;
Assist the Director of Development with creating the annual Communications Plan with particular focus on the donor cultivation areas;
In coordination with the Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP) team and the Director of Development, assist in planning and hosting the annual volunteer appreciation event;
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.
Work Tasks that support Donor Cultivation include:
Database management: ensuring contact information is accurate, and notes on donor cultivation and contacts are kept up-to-date;
Regular connections with SALA staff in order to have current info for Report materials;
Event planning, in coordination with the Director of Development, including planning, scheduling, and managing donor appreciation events;
Attending meetings as appropriate;
In coordination with the Director of Development, create plans for board engagement;
Run monthly donor reports
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or 2 years related experience;
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Database management experience (experience with eTapestry is a plus);
Superb verbal and written communication and listening skills;
Strong interpersonal relationship skills;
Organizational skills and attention to detail;
Ability to follow directions and also be able to work independent and as a member of a team;
Familiarity with the legal community is helpful.
Telecommuting is allowed.
Additional Salary Information: SALA will also pay up to 5% additional compensation to an individual fluent in Spanish. SALA has an excellent benefits package including: fully employer-paid health insurance and a generous leave provision.
