The Salvation Army – Metropolitan Division (SA-Metro) seeks an experienced planned giving professional to assume responsibility for a significant portfolio of 150 high net-worth individuals in the Chicagoland area. This position reports to the Director of Planned Giving and is part of five member team in planned giving within an overall fundraising team of 21 (planned giving, corporate/foundation relations, capital campaigns, major gifts, significant events and support staff).
The SA – Metro Divisional Headquarters is located in Chicago, Illinois. Within the Division, there are: 28 command units, 8 service centers and one Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center; each requiring some fundraising guidance, support with strategy and/or assistance with implementation. The position is based in Chicago and will require some travel across the footprint.
The successful candidate for this position will have:
A minimum of five years professional experience in fundraising with an emphasis on major and planned giving;
Demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate and solicit gifts from High Net Worth individuals;
An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution (an advanced degree and/or CAP certification is preferred);
Ability to meet and communicate effectively with people;
Organizational and planning skills, including ability to work in a team environment;
Self-motivation and goal-orientedness;
Service as a volunteer with a known non-profit organization; and
Strong relational and interpersonal skills, poise and ability to work with top level business and community leaders, board members, corporate leaders and foundations.
