The West Virginia University Foundation, Inc., a non-profit specifically designated to aid, further and support the work and purposes of West Virginia University, is seeking an accomplished professional to join our fundraising team as a Major Gift Officer for the Children’s Hospital.
As a key member of the WVU Medicine Children’s staff, this position assists with the WVU Foundation's efforts to develop significant growth from major gifts. In consultation with the Executive Director of Development and WVU Foundation Leadership, provides personalized relationship development and stewardship with assigned donors. The Major Gift Officer has the primary objective of developing long-term philanthropic relationships with donors and prospects, with the ultimate goal of soliciting individuals and corporations for major gifts.
This position represents the entire range of Children’s Hospital needs and will be accountable for the cultivation, solicitation and follow-up of charitable gifts, sponsorships and support from grateful patients and potential major gift prospects ranging from $50K to $1M.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of progressive development experience, preferably in a non-profit setting. Experience in a health care setting is also preferred along with familiarity within an academic medical center. The position requires regional and national travel.
Successful candidates will be self-motivated and possess the ability to work as a team member within a complex organization requiring collaboration, teamwork and communication. A track record of securing major gifts from identification through cultivation and solicitation preferred. Knowledge of CRM donor tracking software preferred.
