Job Purpose/Function: Working with the Chief Development & Marketing Officer, the Grants Manager helps to implement the development and marketing plan. The purpose of the position is to secure funding for and raise awareness of the agency. Key elements include researching funders, donors and best practices; grants management; and telling our story through written materials for both internal and external audiences.
Major Responsibilities: The Grants Manager has six major responsibilities in accordance with a) agency policies and contractual obligations and b) state/federal regulations/laws and c) accreditation standards:
1)Identify, research and qualify potential grant sources and major donors, using lists, and databases. Track and analyze funder activity and compare trends. Utilize donor database as the key repository of donor and funder information including task management.
2)Responsible for implementation of the grants management strategy within the development plan, including writing grant applications and reporting to funders. Maintain in-house tracking system to monitor post-award requirements. Maintain paper and electronic files.
3)Assist with planning, organization, and implementation of development activities throughout the year, with primary responsibility for written materials.
4)Generate analytical, financial, statistical reports and special reports as directed, including monthly dashboard reports. Track all grant donations and report results with yearly comparisons.
5)Responsible for monitoring, updating and maintaining all social media content. Proactively and creatively engage in social media to promote LifeBridge. Assist with production of agency written materials.
6)Provide support to the Volunteer program to increase agency capacity, build community awareness of LifeBridge and cultivate donors. Supervise volunteers working within the department as needed.
1. Makes daily operational decisions within the parameters of established development and marketing procedures, guidelines, and norms. For example, makes decisions about research to record within the donor database.
2. Supervises volunteers and interns to ensure the development and marketing team functions at a high level.
Tasks and Standards: 1. Ensure that audit standards for record maintenance and donor information are met.
Performance Indicators: • Help raise annual goal for development department with primary responsibility for grants. • Help manage cultivation process for building relationships with funding sources resulting in new monies. • Grant project plan is implemented efficiently and effectively, meeting annual goals. • Written materials reflect the development and marketing plan and are distributed to targeted markets.
Education and Experience Required: • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Associates degree and grant writing experience required. • Strong interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with a high degree of professionalism and ability to build relationships with internal and external audiences. • Ability to anticipate project needs, help set work priorities, multi-task and work independently to accomplish projects. • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. • Organized and results oriented. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. • Must have strong communications skills along with the interpersonal skills to work effectively at all levels of the organization and its stakeholders. Skills needed include writing, proofreading, editing and speaking. • Must be computer literate, with Microsoft Office Suite experience. Experience with social media preferred.
