The Special Events Manager will lead the strategy and execution of all events and is essential to securing philanthropic funds to support the Houston Area Womens Centers mission. This position is responsible for building positive, long-term relationships with donors, volunteers and vendors, and for the internal management of all events, including logistics, project planning and implementation, budgeting/contract negotiations and managing revenue/expense goals.
This position will work in partnership with the Chief Development Officer and Public Strategies Division to ensure the successful launch and follow-through of all events and identifying appropriate solicitation tools to support fundraising. This position will also coordinate the logistics of Community Partner Event (CPEs) fundraisers and provide support to event organizers.
Monday-Friday 9am-6pm with availability to work evenings and Saturdays as needed in this position.
Local Travel: 50%
Responsible for raising revenue through annual events, which include, but are not limited to, the Believe Luncheon and the annual Race Against Violence.
Accountable for donor engagement and retention through tailored cultivation, solicitation and stewardship practices.
Serve as the liaison for all event vendors, including contract negotiation, budget management and invoicing.
Recruit and manage volunteer leadership committees.
Ability to appropriately plan for and meet objectives in all stages of event planning, design and production.
Track event revenue and expenses and provide regular reporting on event fundraising and attendee outcomes.
Develop event collateral including event invitations, sponsorship packages, programs and acknowledgement forms.
Ensure timely follow-up and gift acknowledgment of event supporters.
Manage donor and volunteer communications using the agency's donor software and database system.
Coordinate the logistics of Community Partner Event fundraisers and provide support to event organizers.

Education: Bachelors degree in communications, event planning or marketing.
Experience: Three years of experience in event management and fundraising required.
Two years of experience working in donor databases/CRM required.
Nonprofit experience preferred.
Desired Qualifications: Pro-active with proven ability to manage multiple events and deadlines. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience in Raisers Edge.
Certificates and Licenses: Texas drivers license with a good driving record; ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation
Ability to stand and walk around for extended periods of time is required. Employee will also need to squat or bend, reach outward or upward to effectively discharge job duties. Job incumbent must be able to lift/carry and/or push/pull up to 40 lbs.
