The Executive Director of Evergreen Health Foundation is responsible for the planning and management of donor relations, annual giving, planned giving (bequests, trusts, gift annuities) and fundraising programs for Evergreen Health and its affiliates. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success in closing major gifts of $50,000 or more. The Executive Director will create, lead and implement a comprehensive overhaul of current department fundraising tactics to dramatically increase charitable giving. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree with eight (8) years experience in successful fundraising and development. Prior experience with staff management and staff development required. As part of the essential job functions, the Executive Director of Evergreen Foundation:
Plans, directs, and coordinates fundraising activities and campaigns of Evergreen Health & affiliates.
Manages a portfolio of donors and prospects. Responsible for a minimum annual fundraising goal equal to their salary (in new donations to the agency) during first twelve months of hire. Future annual fundraising goals will be established by Executive Team during the budgeting process each year thereafter.
Devises and executes strategies for the cultivation and solicitation of current and previous donors and new prospects including individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations to meet annual development goals.
Prepares detailed annual plan for all areas of major and planned giving and corporate and foundation giving; including goals, timelines, budgets, development and implementation of prospect strategies, and development of campaign messaging.
Provides leadership and focus to the Development department and guides the initiatives administered by the department through the creation and implementation of strategies to meet long- and short-term goals and objectives
Supervises direct reports: Initiates personnel actions such as performance evaluations and corrective action; Prepares work schedules; Assigns or delegates responsibilities; Ensuring that their work activities are integrated with and supportive of the total development program.
Develops and implements budgets for fund development and maintains accountability for expenditures.
Facilitates charitable giving to meet the needs of the organization by remaining current and proficient on technical and tax code matters affecting donors and charitable giving, and by suggesting options for donors to pursue.
Acts as fundraising support/information liaison with community partners; Identifies a stable pool of gift prospects for future giving by actively maintaining and cultivating current donor relationships while continuously identifying and soliciting prospective donors. Completes a minimum of 15 meaningful contacts with prospective donors and/or community partners per month.
Raise awareness of the organization's work, goals, and financial needs. Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the Evergreen Health and affiliates with the community.
Works in tandem with Marketing, Communications and Events department to develop campaign messaging for achieving fundraising goals.
Qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Business, Public Relations, Communications, or related field with eight (8) years of experience in successful fundraising, development, marketing, sales, or public relations and understanding of major gift fundraising principles and demonstrated success in closing major gifts; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in healthcare and/or non-profit sector preferred. Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills such as strategic planning, setting deadlines, and evaluating progress is required. Supervisory experience mandatory. Must have solid, successful experience in the not-for-profit sector with management responsibility and accountability in areas such as development, marketing and development planning, Must demonstrate understanding of major gift fundraising principles, success in closing major gifts ($50,000 or more) and knowledge of planned giving (bequests, trusts, gift annuities). Sensitivity to and experience with cultural diversity, Harm Reduction, LGBTQ population, Substance Use population and HIV/AIDS issues is essential.
