The Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning (CTTL) at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School seeks a Director for Foundation Relations to secure foundation and corporate support to scale up the global work of the CTTL.
The CTTL was created in 2011 to be the research and professional development arm of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, training teachers in Mind, Brain, and Education Science to improve student learning locally, nationally, and globally. As the first Mind, Brain, and Education (MBE) research center with an international public purpose at a pre-collegiate school, the CTTL is embedded into the daily life of St. Andrew’s teachers and students. The CTTL delivers ongoing MBE Science research-informed professional development programming to 100% of its faculty and students, as well as to educators and school leaders around the country and the world.
The CTTL’s vision is a world where every teacher understands how every student’s brain learns by serving teachers and school leaders in public, charter, international, and private schools, as well as Teach for America (DC Region). To support its work as an MBE translational hub, the CTTL has existing collaborations with faculty from Stanford University School of Education, the Science of Learning Institute at Johns Hopkins, the Department of Psychology and Brain Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, and Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. In its nine-year history, through workshops and conference presentations, the CTTL has presented to, worked with, trained and shared its resources with over 15,000 teachers and school leaders.
As part of a dynamic team that creates and delivers research-informed professional development to schools and school leaders across the country and around the world, the Director of Foundation Relations will sustain pace of approximately $1 million for the CTTL’s programs each year. S/he will cultivate and steward a portfolio of 40 + foundation funders; interface internally and externally with a constituency of teachers, school leaders and private and regional grantmakers; and will be part of a fundraising team with opportunities for growth and advancement. Key job responsibilities include:
Roles and Responsibilities:
Develop relationships and opportunities for funding with local, regional and national grant makers.
Travel to visit CTTL client schools and prospective funders.
Serve as liaison for grant funded schools and school districts.
Maintain funding calendar for Neuroteach Global grants including; upcoming applications, submitted applications, and reporting deadlines.
Develop proposals for CTTL in partnership with local schools and districts.
Monitor all awarded grants for reporting timelines, evaluation requirements, and stewardship.
Work closely with digital content and marketing managers to coordinate promotion of funding partnerships.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 5+ years of foundation or institutional giving experience and bachelor’s degree. Expertise with donor database software and Excel fluency essential. Exceptional written communication abilities a must. Ability to travel during the week required. Possess superior interpersonal skills and be able to work successfully with colleagues, donors, volunteers and staff. Have the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced, open office, and be able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
