The Philanthropy Officer works with the Chief Development Officer and the Development leadership team to develop and implement a comprehensive, written annual resource development plan with strategies for donors and prospects in each Donor Life Cycle (DLC) tier but focusing on Multiyear Active, Major, Lapsed and to continue the development and implementation of the Planned Giving/Endowment Program. As the Philanthropy Officer, s/he will carry a portfolio of donors, be a lead staff person with assigned special event(s), and is responsible for creating and carrying out annual fund strategies to meet the identified needs of the organization.
Key Performance Indicators
Fundraising, Donor Cultivation and Stewardship
Develops a plan for assigned DLC tiers focusing on building and maintaining donor relationships by utilizing appropriate strategies to meet the targeted annual fundraising goals of Cornerstones.
Responsible for Work Place and United Way giving programs as related to assigned DLC tiers.
Senior fundraiser responsible for a portfolio of prospects and donors as determined by the CDO as part of the annual fundraising goals.
Works in tandem with department event staff to ensure strategic cultivation of prospects, initial pledges and sponsorships for key Special Events (as assigned by CDO).
Works with the Director of Volunteers and Community Engagement, broaden Cornerstones' development/fundraising goals by developing a plan to ensure second year donors become/stay engaged.
Creates processes and systems to support best practices in donor development and relations, including compliance by team members of required donor and gift record-keeping, databases, records and files and stewardship of gifts and donors.
Promotes and represents Cornerstones at community, civic and business events and other public forums.
Contributes to the coordination of the annual events and drives calendar to ensure agency-wide coordination and support.
Contributes ideas and information and helps produce development and agency collateral, case statements and marketing materials.
Works with Development leadership team to implement a recognition strategy for individual and corporate donors.
Keeps up-to-date on current fundraising programs, practices and procedures used in the nonprofit sector.
Builds and maintains relationships with major donors of all types, develops strategies for solicitation, and coordinates the solicitation by CEO, board or volunteers, as appropriate.
Institutes a series of direct and electronic mailings and other solicitations in coordination with marketing.
7-10 years fundraising experience with demonstrated success in annual and major gifts, corporate and individual and donor engagement.
Knowledge of nonprofit organizations and proven experience in fundraising.
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communications skills to work in a fast-paced environment.
This position is performed in a traditional office environment.
