The Nature Conservancy is the leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people. We are impacting conservation in 72 countries and all 50 states in the United States—protecting habitats from grasslands to coral reefs, from Australia to Alaska to Zambia.
The Nature Conservancy in Texas, with 38 preserves and over 900,000 acres protected, is working to safeguard important habitat, protect vital freshwater systems, restore a healthy Gulf Coast, and help our cities invest in natural infrastructure, while strengthening the connection between people and nature. We rely on pragmatic science and policy to help establish best practices on our preserves while developing approaches that are shared globally.
Texas is the second most populous state in the country with no end to that growth in sight. This makes us more and more vulnerable to air pollution, heat and drought, water scarcity and natural disasters. To address these complex challenges, we are joining government, school and healthcare leaders in major Texas cities to examine the impact of practical solutions like reduced car idling, campus-based health initiatives and tree planting on air quality and asthma-related absenteeism.
Join our team of fundraisers, scientists, conservation staff and other experts to address some of our most pressing challenges while improving public health, enhancing living spaces, building in resiliency and improving overall sustainability locally and globally. Help us to build a future where people and nature thrive. To learn more about our work in Texas, visit www.nature.org/texas.
