Bike MS is the largest cycling series in the country and is the Society's premier P2P campaign representing revenue of $65 million in a Development team raising $200+ million in the fight against multiple sclerosis. We are looking for the next Vice President, Bike MS to be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of Bike MS. You will serve as a visionary leader to ensure we maximize successful best practices and innovative emerging trends in Bike MS to increase revenue in areas of teams, acquisition, retention and cultivation of riders. You will oversee a national bike team of 100+ staff focused on building and expanding existing portfolios and relationships.
You will focus on these areas:
1. Strategic Development/Vision (40%)
Lead our comprehensive strategy for Bike MS across the organization that will position the Society for future revenue growth.
Analyze current external landscape to envision new ways to position Bike MS for success.
Collaborate with other leadership staff to ensure effective overall strategy implementation for Bike MS.
Collaborate with Development Leadership and cross functionally within the development department to align resources and goals.
Continue to stay abreast of new and innovative trends in P2P space to continue growth in Bike MS -- adjust plans and priorities as needed.
2. Bike MS Leadership (40%)
Accelerate revenue growth by identifying, evaluating and ensuring implementation of universal best practices across the organization by analyzing data and competitive trends relevant to the cycling space.
Ensure most effective way to utilize and deploy resources across the organization to support goals of Bike MS.
Identify and lead fundraising, innovation and business development by collaborating with both internal and external partners to maximize results in Bike MS.
Develop and maintain processes that foster innovation and enable rapid adoption of successes across the organization.
Ensure relationships and corporate partnerships result in growth in revenue and participation.
Create strong alliances with other organizations and industry groups to exchange knowledge and information to benefit the Society.
Be seen, both internally and externally, as foremost expert in the not for profit cycling event space.
3.Staff Leadership & Supervision (20%)
Responsible for the hiring, onboarding, and professional development of direct reports and the leadership, inspiration and motivation of entire Bike MS team.
Conduct regular check-ins to monitor progress, provide feedback, and offer guidance and support where needed to ensure staff is fully supported in their role.
Ensure staff have the tools, knowledge, and resources necessary to perform job duties effectively as well as opportunities for professional development.
Coach and collaborate on goal-setting and professional development plans and conduct formal and informal performance conversations.
Hold staff accountable to the cultural values of the organization and ensure they follow Society operating principles. Be highly competent in assessing talent and willing to engage in difficult conversations when appropriate.
Are available to work occasional nights and weekends to support events
Must possess a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation. You will be required to drive/travel on Society business. We do run motor vehicle checks for all positions which require driving
Here is what we are looking for you to bring to the role:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 10 years of experience in a Senior or National position with a non-profit organization leading significant campaign strategies that have proven results to drive revenue growth
Experience leading large geographically dispersed team
Outcome driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities.
Ability to manage and motivate groups and individuals.
Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Remains composed under stress, handles responses to criticism tactfully and delivers on organizational commitments.
Excellent project management, planning, and organization skills.
Strong strategic planning, negotiation and solution focused skills.
