Director of Development
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The organization is changing the narrative of ageism in entertainment and media by educating and empowering creatives to manage and sustain productive careers, by facilitating age-inclusive collaboration between creatives, producers, and executives, by highlighting how age is portrayed in the media, and by educating employers on how best to treat creative workers in an age-positive way.
The Director of Development will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and guiding a successful and comprehensive fundraising plan, including moves management, cultivating relationships with current and prospective donors, and Board recruitment and development. The ideal candidate will be a face of the agency, acting as a representative at public appearances and speaking engagements. This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Board of Directors.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with the Executive Director and Board in the development and implementation of the strategic plan.
Creates annual and long-term fund development plans to secure gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations and contracts.
Cultivates relationships with key corporate and foundation representatives to build awareness of and commitment to the mission.
Sets and monitors the development department budget.
Works closely with the Executive Director and Board members to ensure fulfillment of all development endeavors.
Meets on a regular basis with Board members to strategize fundraising ideas and initiatives.
Fundraising and Planning
Plans, develops and implements the annual campaigns, providing direction and assistance to staff, Board members and other key volunteers.
Proactively develops and drives the strategic process for identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gift contributions from individuals, foundations and corporations.
Develops relationships and solicits key donors, working with the Executive Director and Board members accountable for a portfolio of key prospects.
Manages moves management, including donor pipelines, solicitations and stewardship schedules.
Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
Manages systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including a donor database and wealth screening tools.
Minimum of 5 years of results-oriented fundraising and direct development experience.
Enthusiastic and entrepreneurial spirit that embraces the mission of the organization.
Proven record of face-to-face major gift solicitation and success in building positive relationships with a range of donors.
Previous track record of Board recruitment and management.
Must be able to work independently, solve problems, handle confidential information and navigate sensitive situations.
Effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with a broad range of internal and external constituents.
Must be able to operate with purpose, urgency, and accuracy in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
Demonstrated proficiency working with fundraising databases, such as Donor Perfect, Tessitura, or Blackbaud.
Ability to recruit and manage volunteer resources.
