About the Position: The Development Associate supports the Director of Development and Associate Director of Development and Information Management of the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) with particular emphasis on daily operation of the fundraising department, including support fundraising events and outreach, perform research and gift/document processing, and assist in data entry and administration.
About MRA: The mission of the Melanoma Research Alliance is to end suffering and death due to melanoma by collaborating with all stakeholders to accelerate powerful research, advance cures for all patients, and prevent more melanomas. MRA has awarded more than $110 million to melanoma research programs around the globe, and through our unique collaborative approach, has leveraged an additional $200 million. MRA was launched in 2007 by Debra and Leon Black under the auspices of the Milken Institute, and due to the ongoing support of our founders, 100% of every donation to MRA supports melanoma research.
Position Functions and Responsibilities:
Perform gift processing and process acknowledgement letters;
Support major benefit and cultivation events, including tracking invitations and replies, coordinating with vendors, following up with attendees;
Maximize usage and administer MRA’s database, Salesforce and assist with data entry, cleaning, management and reporting;
Assist with management of MRA’s participation with America’s Charities, including attending local CFC events;
Perform research on prospects and donors;
Assist with pledge reminders;
Assist with creating fundraising proposals and grant requests to individuals, corporations and foundations, ensuring all reporting requirements are met; and
Manage scheduling and coordination of meetings for Director of Development, including requests, meeting support services, note taking, and travel logistics.
Four-year college degree preferred;
Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising database platforms, Salesforce NPSP preferred;
Strong eye for details and focus on quality control;
Excellent interpersonal skills;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Sound judgment, professionalism and discretion;
Demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work with high degree of accuracy;
Must be able to handle problems quickly and efficiently;
Personal attitude that includes being outgoing, entrepreneurial, action-oriented, and flexible; and
Successfully complete a security background check.
