The Gift Officer is responsible for working with the Development leadership team to help meet Development revenue goals and fund Rodale Institute’s mission. Responsibilities include research, analysis and reporting on existing and prospective donors. The Gift Officer reports directly to the Chief Impact Officer. Tasks include setting goals, creating action plans to achieve goals and reporting on progress to goals. The Gift Officer will work together with the Development Associate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:?
Secure major gifts ranging from $1,000 - + for the organization.
Manage systems and software (Raiser’s Edge/NXT) to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools
Manage existing portfolio of donors and prospects
Develop a donor solicitation strategy with help from Development team
Work with the development department to align efforts and set goals
Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, as well as phone calls, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitation (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications)
Track and report progress using specific metric
Maintain database configurations and templates and online event and donation forms.
Oversee the daily operation of Development Department with the Development Associate.
Utilize to the fullest Raiser’s Edge, fundraising software products including user accounts, contract negotiations, training.
Assist with the development and management of additional fundraising events, communications, marketing efforts, and development activities.
Build and sustain open communication between the development and other Institute departments.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:? The ideal candidate will:
Bachelors in related field and/or combination of equivalent employment and education experience.
Ability to cultivate, engage and maintain relationships with donors.
Demontrate ability to secure individual gifts of $1,000+
Minimum of 3 years in fundraising experience.
Commitment to the mission statement, core values and goals of Rodale Institute.
Must be highly detail-oriented.
Have strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong self-motivation and the ability to work as a member of the team.
Possess knowledge of fundraising principles and practices and maintain a professional, polished demeanor.
Experience in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge fundraising software.
