The Prospect Research Manager is responsible for the identification, research and management systems of major-gift prospects for Xavier University of Louisiana. The Prospect Research Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining the prospect tracking system, analyzing data from the Advancement database to identify major-gift prospects and giving patterns, and for researching and qualifying prospects using a number of national data sources and services. In addition, the Prospect Research Manager will assist with tracking the cultivation and movement of prospects from cultivation to solicitation and stewardship.
A summary of the major functions and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
Identify and research high-potential donors with regard to financial assets and capacity. Develop a model and system to rank potential donors with regard to financial capacity, inclination and readiness.
Use electronic screening services and other resources to identify high-potential prospects and research the financial capability of those prospects to qualify for cultivation.
Update Raiser’s Edge database with prospect rankings, prospect manager assignments, profiles and research.
Prepare prospect profiles and reports for the President, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Associate Vice President for Development, Major Gift Officers and key volunteers for making prospect calls.
Establish and maintain a computerized tracking system of prospect movement in Raiser’s Edge database and manage day-to-day maintenance of prospect tracking system.
Oversee movement of prospects through the cultivation cycle: from identification through solicitation and stewardship. Track and provide biweekly reports on prospect contact and cultivation steps.
Analyze data in the Raiser’s Edge database to identify trends in giving, potential donors and patterns of giving.
Develop donor models from mining and analyzing data from the Database to identify prospects with high potential and likelihood of giving.
Provide targeted lists of high potential prospects for both Annual fund and Major Gift’s solicitation.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Successful candidate will have experience with prospect management and research and knowledge of current research tools. Must have strong computer skills and must be able to use Raiser’s Edge database to update information, run reports, and analyze data. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. A bachelor’s degree is required and at least three years of relevant experience in a Development office or institution of higher learning is preferred. Experience in the use of Raiser’s Edge software or other development software and with data mining is strongly preferred.
