Development - General, Donor Relations/Stewardship, Planned Giving
The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and projects that strategically engage alumni to stay connected with Tatnall. The Director of Alumni Relations will develop programs whereby Tatnall alumni will be able to provide professional expertise and volunteer service to the school in areas such as Admissions, Development (Fundraising), Student Affairs and Athletics. The Director of Alumni Relations will concentrate on developing and maintaining an accurate and current database that will assist the fundraising for individual classes and the alumni in general. Developing personal relationships with alumni is paramount in this position.
Leadership of the Alumni Council
Work closely with the Alumni Council, arranging its meetings, staffing its committees and ensuring strong and productive relationships between its members and the academic and administrative leadership; serve as ex officio Executive Director of the Alumni Association
Plan, implement and promote alumni programs
Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records; collect biographical and career information of alumni (e.g. alumni directory), correspondence, website, postal returns, etc.
Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally; maintain regular communication with alumni via direct contact, email blasts, alumni web pages, social media, monthly e-newsletter and print publications
Educate graduating students about becoming active alumni
Work with Director of Enrollment to include alumni involvement in the admissions process
Plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and alumni
Collaborate closely with the Development Office in increasing support from alumni through active use of Raiser’s Edge and periodic attendance at prospect management meetings
Provide guidance to alumni volunteers
Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience managing staff and volunteers, leading educational donor initiatives and fundraising and customer relations
Experience in successfully managing and working with volunteers
Commitment to teamwork and ability to collaborate with administrative team to align alumni activities with school's strategic plan
Experience planning and operating social events
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Warmth, sense of humor, and an appreciation of joy in an educational setting
Sophisticated knowledge and use of all social media platforms
