The Development Officer reports to the Senior Director of Development and provides direction for the fundraising efforts for a particular academic area or discipline of the College. Responsible for raising philanthropic resources to further the College’s mission.This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Relations, Marketing or related field and seven (7) years of experience in development, non-profit marketing, academic environment or related field
At least two (2) years of major gift fundraising or upper-level annual fund work, or new client development is required with demonstrated record of accomplishment
All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals, and objectives, and policies and procedures
Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques
Knowledge of methods, practices and procedures for obtaining information about the giving programs
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Strong knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge donor management system or similar development software
Possess excellent organizational skills, presentation skills and communication skills (both oral and written)
