The ideal candidate is a creative team player, who understands what makes people give to or join organizations. This person can write effectively and persuasively for multiple audiences for direct mail and digital (primarily fundraising, internal marketing, and membership).
Reviews project briefs and supporting materials for understanding of the history, objectives, and considerations for each project.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clients’ products, services, audience, marketplace and solutions.
Participates in scheduled kickoff meetings. Notes all items related to the copy aspect of the project that arise during kickoff meetings such as goals and requirements, specifications, component copy needed, and time lines.
Provides feedback and ideas to team during kick-off meetings on copy aspects of projects.
Creates and edits marketing/fundraising copy for websites, email, social media, direct mail, telemarketing, and other marketing channels/collateral as required, both for internal and client-facing projects.
Works closely with client specific account teams to discuss required changes and or suggested edits on all copy deliverables of the project.
Has a complete understanding of the creative and copy project schedule from kick-off to the release date and understands the flexibility of project schedule dates and the tendency for constant change due to unforeseen client or internal changes, delays or issues.
4+ years of successful professional writing experience for either fundraising or membership-based organizations.
Experience writing for at least one of the following niche markets: Veteran Support Organizations (VSO), Professional Associations, Political Organizations, International Nonprofits, and National Mission-Based Nonprofits.
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.
Flawless knowledge of the content structure and of the English/target language including the spelling of words, meaning and rules of grammar and composition.
Intimate knowledge of Microsoft Word.
Telecommuting is allowed.
