The Manager of Donor Relations serves as the lead strategist of Cure HHT and develops, oversees, and coordinates the fundraising plans for Annual Giving and Major gifts.
The Manager of Donor Relations will develop a coordinated matrix of solicitation and communication strategies involving email, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support and meeting or exceeding transformational gift goals.
In addition, the individual will foster the growth of best practices in the supporting areas of donor acquisition, gift processing, data management and donor relations as related to annual giving and Major Gifts. The manager will have a keen appreciation for that annual giving can provide and therefore enabling successful transformational major and planned gift programs.
Key Initiatives Include:
Determine annual giving goals for all of the Organization’s programs and initiatives; build strategic and tactical plans for achieving these goals. This strategy will incorporate comprehensive plan utilizing the volunteer and staff resources.
Focus on effective solicitation and communication activities within specific donor segments identified as having potential for transformational gifts.
Work effectively with transformational campaign volunteers and staff to gain integration of annual giving with transformational giving participation and build strategies for moving donors to higher giving levels.
Formulate and execute a communications program supporting annual giving
Facilitates the development, maintenance and monitoring of campaign plans and initiatives
Manages and follows best practices utilizing the Cure HHT’s database (Sales Force), conducting prospect research, measured externally in total dollars, percentage participation, consistency of giving and average gift size
Identifies, cultivates and solicits prospective donors to the Annual Fund; establishing goals/objectives and developing strategies to improve the acquisition and retention of Annual Fund donors
Facilitates Cure HHT’s direct mail solicitations; coordinating Sales Force and Classy training for other staff members as needed
Ensures all fundraising events are within budget, meet financial objectives, and appropriately represent the Foundation to the donor community in collaboration with and managing the activities of the part-time Fundraising Events Coordinator
Major Gift Initiatives and Tactical Strategies
Identifies, qualifies, and sustains a donor prospect pipeline and portfolio with a giving capacity of $25,000 or more, while concentrating on the development of major gift prospects at the $100,000 and above level
Identify prospects for planned, corporate and foundation and major giving programs
Provides oversight and assistance in the determination of the feasibility and type of giving vehicle best suited to the needs of the donor and organization.
Manage a prospect pool with annual goals for personal conversations, visits (where appropriate) and giving outcomes.
Prepares and reviews proposals and gift agreements as required for proper gift documentation
Prepares prospect materials for the Executive Director, President of the Board, Board Development Committee and others as appropriate to a prospects situation
Leads staff in establishing a strong philanthropic focused and supportive work environment in alignment with the organization’s operating principles
Facilitates meetings, initiating up to date communications, informational exchanges and project / philanthropic coordination with the Development Committee members and staff
Maintains donor interest and enthusiasm through stewardship activities
Protects confidential information
Prepares correspondence with prospects and all contact reporting in a professional and timely manner
Designs and develops a volunteer structure in support of the organization’s fundraising efforts
Demonstrated track record of success and minimum of 3-5 years’ annual giving and Major Gift management-related experience preferably in a nonprofit organization; strong working knowledge of Sales Force software; experience soliciting 5, 6, to 7-figure donations. Excellent writing and communication skills as well as interpersonal skills are essential to build strong relationships with various internal and external parties.
