Within the Office of Finance and under the direct supervision of the Diocesan Controller, this accountant role is primarily dedicated to the operations and business activities of the Catholic Community Foundation (CCF.) This full-time exempt position executes all of the accounting, reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, investment and endowment analysis and reporting, and related activities for the CCF and other invested assets overseen by the Diocese of Cleveland Finance Office. CCF is a separate corporation operating within the Diocese of Cleveland whose mission includes the management of Diocesan, parish, school, Catholic Charities and other fundraising and investment activities within the Diocese of Cleveland.
Preparation of all monthly journal entries, supporting workpapers and accounting; payroll; reporting; financial analyses; and related activities for CCF and its activities.
Preparation of schedules in support of year-end external audit and tax return activities for CCF.
Preparation of annual CCF budgets, operating and capital.
Monitors endowments and restricted funds as related to the spending policies and operating procedures of the CCF and Diocese of Cleveland; oversight of endowment distribution activity.
Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of CCF’s fund-raising databases and the reconciliation of those records to the accounting/ledger systems.
Develops analytical investment, budget and expenditure reports. Compiles historical actual and forecasted figures for comparative analysis and budget creation for CCF departments.
Responsible for all necessary accounting and reporting associated with active fundraising campaigns executed or supported by the CCF.
Develops ad hoc financial studies and analyses related to investments, cash flow, and operational efficiency.
Supports the Diocesan Controller in its role to support the Executive Director of CCF, the CCF Board, and its committees in their oversight functions related to CCF finances and investments.
Special projects as assigned, including assistance to the Diocesan Controller with other similar general accounting responsibilities related to other functions managed in the Diocesan offices.

Combination of education and experience normally represented by a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or finance with minimum 5-8 years’ experience in operational accounting and financial/investment services, or comparable work experience.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively and productively work with and support people of diverse economic, cultural, and administrative backgrounds.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other office software in common use.
Prior hands-on experience with integrated accounting software.
Strong detail orientation, the ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
Reliable means of personal transportation for travel within the 8 counties of the Diocese.
