Development Director is responsible for creating philanthropic relationships with community members on behalf of Casa de Modesto. This position is responsible for leading the fundraising efforts including the execution of creative strategies to develop an annual fund that supports benevolence efforts. Development Director will place major emphasis on nurturing the current base of annual donors while also identifying and cultivating new donor prospects.
Raises annual funds to establish and expand Casa de Modesto’s donor base.
Identifies and develop new strategies to cultivate donor prospects.
Creates awareness of Casa de Modesto’s mission and brand through public speaking engagements, presentation and memberships and leadership in business, civic, professional, and networking organizations.
Provides direct leadership and coordination of all fundraising events.
Creates a marketing plan for development to include partners, events and projects and work in conjunction with the Marketing Coordinator to provide materials, event logistics and media relations.
Develops and maintain databases and financial tracking systems for contributions.
Oversees Marketing personnel by assigning and monitoring work; implementing productivity standards; conducting performance appraisals; and coach and discipline as needed.
Travels locally in private vehicle to set-up and/or attend functions/events in relation to fundraising efforts.
Utilizes the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) membership to learn, connect and network for professional development as well as to maintain fundraising best practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or a related field.
Preferred 1-3 years or more of non-profit fundraising experience.
Is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
Experience developing and implementing successful fundraising initiatives.
Experience with account or client management.
Experience working directly with donors on fundraising efforts.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to communicate well in a variety of settings with a variety of stakeholders.
Ability to develop strong rapport and relationships with stakeholders.
Strong working knowledge of fundraising fundamentals.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create results through influence management.
Experience managing staff and/or volunteers.
Ability to develop and use creative and innovative methods and the judgment to know when innovation makes sense.
Ability to read, write and communicate to residents, staff, families, vendors, and all business relationships in English language.
Possess of a valid California Driver License, adequate automobile insurance, and possess and maintain a good driving record.
Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, basic physical, and Tuberculosis (TB) test.
Ability to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends.
Ability to maintain a polished and professional appearance in accordance with Company dress code standards.
