Buena Vista University has an opening for the Director of Alumni Engagement in Storm Lake, Iowa. The director reports to the Assistant Vice President for University Development and Alumni Engagement (UDAE) and is responsible for providing executive guidance, comprehensive planning and direct oversight to Buena Vista University’s alumni engagement programs as well as assisting with annual giving fundraising efforts. This position also serves as the primary staff liaison to the BVU National Alumni Association’s Board of Directors. The position will also perform comprehensive analyses related to all aspects of the alumni engagement program. Using the data collected, evaluates current programs and makes recommendations for program improvements.
This position requires strong managerial and motivational skills, the ability and willingness for frequent travel, the ability to train, mentor, and develop volunteers and campus colleagues, and participate collaboratively as a member of the UDAE team. The director is responsible for partnering with the advancement team to help build the major and annual gift pipeline through identification and cultivation activities and carries a portfolio of volunteers.
The Director of Alumni Engagement must be both a strong team-builder and team member who is goal oriented, skilled in decision making, competitive and inquisitive, ethical, entrepreneurial and creative, adept at data collection and analysis, able to provide budget oversight for expenditures, and effective in oral and written communications. Director must have comprehensive experience in all areas of alumni engagement to include volunteer management and recruitment, board development & planning, and communication planning and implementation skills.

Additional qualifications include five years of alumni engagement experience including broad exposure to different volunteer engagement and training preferably in higher education. Bachelor’s degree is required with a master’s degree or additional engagement/fundraising training desired. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and ability.
