Annual Giving, Donor Relations/Stewardship, Major Gifts
The Salvation Army – North Texas Area Command seeks an accomplished professional to manage and direct a team of 19 staff in Dallas, Collin, Tarrant, Denton, and Ellis counties responsible for fundraising, communications, marketing, donor and volunteer engagement, and relationship building, and volunteer involvement.
The North Texas Area Command is located in Dallas and oversees more than 20 service centers in the five-county area; last year serving approximately 75,000 individuals.
The successful candidate for this position will have:
A bachelor’s degree in a related field (A master’s degree is preferred);
A five to ten year history of related work experience and team leadership;
A history of securing six-figure gifts;
A history of leadership and support in a major campaign ($25 million or more); and
Certification/credential from either CFRE, PRSA or IABC (preferred).
Additional skill-sets in the following areas will be required:
Communications skills – friendly enough to build rapport with, receive, cooperation from the community and funders;
Leadership skills—able to guide the activities of large teams of specialists and fundraisers;
Organizational skills—running several operations at once;
Problem-solving skills—assess and explain the handling of sensitive issues, use good judgement in what is reported and how it is reported;
Speaking skills—represent the organization, clearly explaining the organization’s positions; and
Writing skills—grasp the key messages to get across and write them succinctly in order to keep the attention of readers.
