The American Urological Association (AUA), the premier urologic association providing support to the urologic community, is currently searching for an energetic, detail-oriented candidate for our Development Specialist (Corporate and Industry Grants) position.
This position assists the Director of Development with Corporate (Industry and Non-Industry), Foundations and Government grant research, proposal writing, program concept design and implementation, to secure funds in support of the Foundation’s research, education and outreach programs. Position requires experience in writing successful letters of intent, grant proposals, online charitable grant submissions, acknowledgements, stewardship reports and necessary supporting documents for competitive proposals to prospective funders, as well as managing internal reporting, records and files.
The individual in this position will:
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the AUA and the Foundation’s research, educational and outreach programs to effectively communicate the Foundation’s mission and funding needs.
Manage the identification, research, cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship of grant funders in the health care field in support of programs and special events.
Conduct prospect research to identify a sufficient number and quality of prospects, prepare donor profiles, target appropriate ask amounts, prioritize and evaluate prospects.
Draft and edit letters of intent, grant proposals, on?line grant submissions, acknowledgments, stewardship reports and necessary supporting documents for complex proposals to prospective and current funders. Work closely with the Director of Development in prioritizing funding opportunities and drafting proposals and other correspondence for submission and signature.
Develop, foster and support relationships with institutional funders, to include identifying personal connections with other grants managers and volunteers to properly steward institutional funders.
Work with Outreach, Research, Marketing, Legal and Finance to gather information necessary for proposals and grant reporting.
Comply with all grant reporting and deadlines as required by funders.
Manages special stewardship projects as assigned, including cultivation and stewardship events.
Tracks fundraising publications for important trends, and new opportunities for fundraising success, including new and emerging technological advances.

Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree a plus.
Minimum 3?5 years related experience research and grant writing.

Knowledge of grants development, proposals, applications and administration as
well as basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
