Position Description: Major Gift Officer at FORCE: Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered
Main expectations of this position:
Develop a major gift solicitation strategy
Identify major gift prospects
Cultivate and secure major gift donations
Execute major gift donor stewardship
Responsible for soliciting gifts of $5,000 and higher from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewarding of prospects/donors of major gift potential.
Establishing, building and managing relationships with a portfolio of prospective and current donors.
Determining the direction of our major giving program and strategies, including an effective major gift donor stewardship program.
Monitoring all aspects of the donor experience (as it relates to potential and current Major Gift Donors) at FORCE to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations are achieved.
Reporting to the CEO and working collaboratively and strategically with the VP of Development ensuring all fundraising efforts are coordinated and attuned.
Must be able to report progress and provide program evaluation when needed.
Working collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, constituents and all FORCE staff.
Managing the aspects of the Joining FORCEs Conference that concern individual major gift donors/prospects.
Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred.
Extensive familiarity with Fundraising – Three to five years successful experience in major or planned gift fundraising. Demonstrated track record of building donor relationships and closing major gifts.
Ability to understand the needs and interests of major gift donors in order to develop relationships between them and the organization.
Ability to develop productive and professional relationships with constituents, volunteers, a board of directors and advisory team members and the staff of FORCE.
Interest in the hereditary cancer community and a dedication to promoting the organization’s value and relevance.
Successful experience in developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Exemplary communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments.
Must be willing to travel and be a self-directed professional, able to work in a virtual team organizational structure.
Telecommuting is allowed.
