The Assistant Director for Regional Development & Engagement will broaden and deepen alumni and constituent engagement with Ohio University by developing more purposeful, meaningful, impactful and mutually beneficial relationships, serving as an official liaison between the university and the New York City, New York US region. The successful candidate will advance the mission of Ohio University by developing, organizing, and implementing strategies to increase the level of personal engagement and financial commitment of alumni and friends within the region. This Assistant Director will also serve as a leadership annual giving officer by identifying potential annual gift donors and developing an annual gifts pipeline to build a qualified prospect base for the University. They will provide exceptional customer service to and assist alumni volunteers with leadership and training, best practices and established processes. The work of this position will be directed by the Central Programs and Alumni Relations Assistant Vice Presidents and will require frequent travel to the main campus in Athens, Ohio. This position will be based independently in the New York City, New York US region and will be responsible for travel within the Northeastern US regions.
Primary Accountabilities: 1. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni and friends that reside in the New York City, New York US region for annual gifts in support of the programs and divisions of the University. Initiate first alumni contact to expand the donor base of existing and potential annual gift donors. 45 % of Time 2. Coordinate effective engagement and cultivation strategies, opportunities and trends that focus on the University’s alumni, donors, constituents and friends within the New York City, New York US region. Develop and grow a greater Ohio University presence within the region. Collaborate with the Alumni Relations Office to design and implement effective alumni services, programs, young alumni programs, signature events, training and oversight requisite materials to maximize alumni engagement nationally. 40 % of Time 3. Consult and collaborate with University Advancement staff as needed to engage, cultivate, solicit and steward constituents for annual gifts for the University and/or transition the constituent to major giving colleagues for prospect management. 15 % of Time Successful candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends as required.
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university required.
At least 2 years of customer/client relations/sales, volunteer management and/or institutional advancement experience.
Superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
