The Division of University Advancement is integral to achieving and sustaining institutional excellence through fundraising and engagement efforts. The Division has one of the leading development teams in the country and places a strong emphasis on professional learning and personal growth for its employees, including educational opportunities, onboarding and mentoring programs.
The College Agricultural Sciences (CAS) is one of eight academic colleges at CSU and has an aggressive fundraising stretch goal of $100M during the 8-year Campaign for Colorado State. The College offers nine undergraduate majors with 28 different concentration options as well as 39 graduate degree programs and houses the Agricultural Experiment Station with research centers around the state of Colorado. Graduates from the College of Agricultural Sciences are highly sought after by public and private industry leaders as well as governmental entities and agencies. Our students are mentored by world class faculty, participate in international and study abroad opportunities and learn the importance of service and outreach to our communities, state and nation. The College faculty members have their academic home in one of five departments: • Agricultural & Resource Economics • Animal Sciences • Bioagricultural Sciences & Pest Management • Horticulture & Landscape Architecture • Soil and Crop Sciences
The ideal candidate for this position will be a consummate professional and will thrive in a fast-paced campaign, metrics/results-driven fundraising environment. The candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with donors, prospective donors, alumni, colleagues, faculty, staff, and students. Eligible candidates will understand how they can make a difference in supporting the future direction of both CSU and the CAS, while also meeting targeted timelines.
Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Development, the Associate Director of Development’s primary responsibility is to identify, cultivate, and solicit donors capable of making $25,000+ gifts in support of the College of Agricultural Sciences.
The Associate Director of Development will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, and present comprehensive proposals that match the fundraising priorities of the College of Agricultural Sciences. Examples include but are not limited to: soliciting gifts to establish endowed scholarships and professorships, as well as naming opportunities for related buildings and research centers.
The Associate Director of Development will work in a dynamic team environment, and work in collaboration with central development partners to ensure we maximize and celebrate the philanthropic support of our donors.
This position will report to the Executive Director of Development.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in liberal arts, business, communications, marketing, etc. or related field • A minimum of four years of experience as a development officer, or major gifts officer, in an institution of higher education or equivalent complex organization • Demonstrated success in face-to-face solicitations of $25,000 or greater. • Demonstrated ability to engage and effectively communicate with diverse audiences • Ability to travel in and out of state and work non-standard hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends • Must have a valid driver’s license, the ability to obtain a driver’s license, or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date
• Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification or master’s degree • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and effectively execute multiple initiatives, programs, and events • Experience working with budgets and financial processes • Positive, congenial attitude and a proven ability to work successfully with multiple stakeholder groups.
