Under general direction, performs a wide variety of duties associated with overseeing Development, Fundraising and Implementation of the Strategic Plan in close coordination with the Executive Director; outlines a detailed development calendar each season, plans the annual gala and other fundraisers, coordinates stewardship events and special donor benefit programs, communicates regularly with SNH Trustees and manages their gifts and needs with special priority, develops annual fundraising goals with the ED and the Board Development Committee.
The Director of Development’s primary responsibilities are the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive annual Development Plan, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of development services and donor relations.
Provide strategic direction and long-range/short-range planning for all these areas in the context of growing the various Development Campaigns while supporting the greater development, mission and goals of SNH.
Direct and implement the annual giving strategies and the day-to-day management of all aspects of the activities and projects related to the plan.
Develop a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving social media, email, direct mail, phone, and personal visitation all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support.
Oversees and manages the acknowledgement and recognition of all annual gifts.
Responsible for researching, profiling, solicitation and stewarding relationships with current and potential donors.
Manages and assists part-time grant-writer and researcher.
Develop and implement a communications plan offering opportunities for gifts through recognition programs.
Works closely with the SNH Staff to ensure coordination with their respective fundraising efforts.
Manages the Board Development Committee and coordinates with the Chair.
Responsible for evaluating the Development program and reporting program’s progress.
Attends all SNH Concerts and Development events to support staff, donors and patrons.
Attends Board meetings and makes reports to the Trustees regarding Development goals and events
Previous experience in leading fundraising campaigns, from strategizing to implementation to management of the program.
Proven track record of achieving fundraising goals and initiatives.
Understanding of database management, gift processing and donor relations.
Ability to recognize opportunities, identify critical activities and prioritize them to attain goals.
Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work towards goals within deadlines.
Ability to listen carefully to and understand others, both internally and externally, and proactively respond to those needs in a consistent and timely manner.
Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential.
A results-oriented individual, who demonstrates the ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization.

About Symphony NH
Symphony NH was founded in 1923 by conductor Clayton Eaton and is now New Hampshire's oldest professional orchestra. Symphony NH was known as the Nashua Symphony Orchestra until 2012.
Symphony NH has performed orchestra concerts in Nashua, Concord, Lebanon, Peterborough, and Keene, as well as additional towns across the state. Our education programs have served Nashua students for many years, and starting in 2016 were additionally brought to students in Manchester, Concord and the Upper Valley.
