Donor Relations/Stewardship, Special Events, Volunteer Management
This position is responsible for creating, supporting and advancing strong volunteer-based community Affiliates and Community Advocates that are aligned to support our organizational goals and mission. Key responsibilities include successfully recruiting and developing strong volunteer leaders who will fully implement the work of the Affiliates as well as execute successful PurpleStride events.
Identify and execute market-specific strategies to recruit volunteer leaders based on the needs of the Affiliate.
Establish fully functioning volunteer-led Affiliates, Community Advocates and PurpleStride events.
Market specifications of national campaigns and priorities including national volunteer model and strategies.
In partnership with volunteers, implement local PurpleStride events, including peer-to-peer fundraising, securing sponsorship and event logistics.
Serve as the lead PanCAN staff member in their assigned region
Implement thoughtful volunteer retention strategies that support the sustainability of assigned Affiliates and Community Advocates.
Ensure sustainable Affiliate development in all key areas by providing quality support to existing volunteer affiliates through onsite and remote best practices training in recruitment, and organizational development.
In partnership with volunteers, responsible for establishing and achieving both revenue and mission goals for assigned communities.
Work closely with supervisor, Director, Community Engagement, to outline current key relationships in market and set goals for new relationship development.
Professionally represent the organization to diverse audiences from grassroots volunteers to corporate donors.
Build and develop organizational relationships with top team captains, top leadership volunteers, and corporate and civic leaders to increase overall awareness of the local Affiliate and PurpleStride.
Work effectively with all constituents in assigned communities to introduce them to other PanCAN opportunities (major gifts, planned giving, board, etc.), partnering with Development staff as needed.
Maintain constituent records in Raiser’s Edge for volunteers, donors, and other contacts.
Work closely with supervisor to identify broader organizational opportunities and relationships.
Manage budgets including event tracking of participant recruitment and fundraising revenue.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 7 years’ experience in community outreach and mobilization programs, volunteer management, peer-to-peer fundraising, and development, preferably in programs that are regional/national in scope.
Demonstrable knowledge of the principles and best practices of volunteer program management, and organizational management.
Strong background in peer-to-peer programs and strategies.
Demonstrable success in leading and managing teams.
Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse individuals at all organizational levels, both internal and external.
Substantial experience in creating and facilitating successful training sessions.
Demonstrated ability in effective oral and written communications.
A friendly, positive, outgoing, solutions-oriented demeanor and the ability to build and sustain strong relationships with staff, volunteers and donors, both face-to-face and remotely.
Proven ability to evaluate and analyze data, and make decisions and/or recommendations as required for their markets.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and markets simultaneously.
Familiarity with the corporate business environment is a must.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems (Raiser’s Edge preferred).
Knowledge of cancer advocacy, outreach and awareness programs, and grassroots marketing a plus.
Must have an interest in domestic travel and be comfortable navigating new cities.
