Assistance Dogs Northwest is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides children and adults with disabilities, professionally trained dogs, that will increase their independence and enhance the quality of their lives. We are committed to serving people in Washington, Oregon and Idaho with special needs, through Community Outreach Programs and through developing the skills of potential dogs to assist people in need. Assistance Dogs and lifetime follow-up support are provided free of charge.
We are seeking a Grant Writer to join our team for research, creation, submission and reporting of grants. This individual will also be responsible for editing and writing business proposals and copy for publications and fundraising materials. We are seeking an experienced individual with excellent writing and organizational skills who is passionate about our mission and committed to our growth and development. The ideal candidate will live within the Seattle, WA area and have proven experience as a Grant Writer.
You will be able to work from home, but will be required to come to the facility in Bainbridge, WA periodically to meet with co-workers and attend meetings. Also, some of your co-workers will be 4 legged and have puppy breath! What more could you ask for? Maybe some cuddles and puppy/dog therapy...
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, journalism or a related field
Five or more years of previous grant writing experience in the Pacific Northwest is preferred
Proven success as a grant writer for capital campaigns is preferred
Exceptional communication, presentation and organizational skills
Expert knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Superior editing skills
Strong research and interviewing skills
Ability to work independently and in a team settin
