About Public Allies
Public Allies is a national social change organization whose mission is to create a just and equitable society and the diverse leadership to sustain it. Founded in 1992, Public Allies is dedicated to developing leaders from a breadth of backgrounds to address our country’s most important challenges and opportunities.
At the core of our work is our nationally recognized apprenticeship program, which we implement in 25 sites across 22 states. Our apprentices, whom we call “Allies,” are diverse, emerging leaders who are passionate about catalyzing their personal talents and interests to create a better future for their communities and the country. Public Allies provides them with the tools, skills, and opportunities to do so.
We work to change the face and practice of leadership in communities across the country by demonstrating that everyone can lead, and that lasting social change results when citizens of all backgrounds step up, take responsibility, and work together.
