Position: Major Gift Officer (Director of Development)
Location: Branson, Missouri (preferred)
Supervisor: Chief Business Officer
Responsibilities:This position includes duties as assigned by supervisor to advance the vision and mission of Kanakuk Ministries including, but not limited to:
Donor Identification and Cultivation:
Develop and maintain exceptional, Christian-based relationships with Kanakuk current and potential donors with ability to align their interests with ministry needs.
Leverage Kanakuk donor database and other resources to identify potential major donors ($100,000+ lifetime) to Kanakuk Ministries.
Partner with Kanakuk leadership and development staff to prepare engagement plans and communications to connect with donors.
Maintain outstanding relationships with major donors to grow gifts (cash, non-cash, planned/estate, etc.) overtime.
Donor Campaigns and Events:
Generate new development concepts and ideas that will enhance and expand number of donors and increase total giving.
Assist in design, planning and implementation of donor communication materials, email and direct mail communication, and major donor events.
Provide insight in development and production of annual fund, capital campaign, planned gift and other donor materials.
Maintain a high degree of initiative and entrepreneurial drive to deliver upon Kanakuk development objectives and advance the mission and vision of the ministry.
Demonstrate outstanding ability to work with multiple executives and departments (CEO’s office, COO’s office, CBO’s office, Accounting, Camp and Business Directors, CircuiTree, Marketing, etc.) and communicate effectively and tactfully with all.
Timely completion of all company required reports including, but not limited to expense reports and weekly donor reports.
Strong commitment to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the Kanakuk donor database. Accountable to ensure donor communications have been entered into company donor database. Note: administrative support is available to assist with data entry, as required.
Deliver over $1 million in annual donations from major gifts.
Build and effectively manage 100 relationships with major donors (>$5000/yr).
Willing to travel at least 50% of time to meet face-to-face with donors and prospects.
Demonstrate exceptional teamwork and communication with Kanakuk leadership (President, COO, CBO) and Development Department to ensure alignment on donor engagement and focus.
Protect Kanakuk Family of Ministries (Kanakuk Ministries, Kid’s Across American, K-Life, and Kanakuk Institute) brand and reputation, making every effort to avoid donor confusion and frustration and ensure the success of all.
Demonstrate commitment to Kanakuk Ministries’ mission, vision, values and beliefs.
10 years of proven fund raising / development experience with a proven track record of building and cultivating ongoing relationships.
Enthusiastic, self-motivated and positive attitude; a team player and ability to work collaboratively across all levels in the organization.
Excellent time management and organization practices.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing using proper grammar and punctuation.
Outstanding integrity and the use of good judgment; safeguard the intellectual property of the company as it relates to donor information and use such information only for the benefit of Kanakuk Ministries.
Telecommuting is allowed.
