The Executive Director will report to the College President, and the HCC Foundation Board Chairperson in coordinating the initiatives and work of the HCC Foundation Board. The Executive Director will be accountable for:
Working with the Foundation Board and the College President to develop a strategic plan for the HCC Foundation;
Working with the College President and the President of the Foundation to ensure that the work of the Board and its committees is carried out effectively;
Developing an annual plan including the preparation of the operating budget that reflects the strategic priorities for approval by the Board;
Helping develop future Board and staff leadership including assisting with Board orientation and providing educational information;
Developing an overall strategic plan for an integrated capital campaign model that supports the overall mission of the College involving campaign professional staff and/or volunteer leadership in the strategic development process to utilize their expertise and cultivate their support;
Participating as a member of the President’s Cabinet and provide consultation to the College President on Foundation Board and campaign-related issues;
Planning and leading the implementation of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts;
Personally soliciting donors;
Identifying current donors and new prospective donors;
Overseeing the building and maintenance of relationships with major donors including individuals, corporations and foundations;
Overseeing the fundraising activities of the Foundation Board;
Coordinating and managing activities related to the Foundation and campaign;
Managing the Foundation’s operations, including the operating budget;
Ensuring that the appropriate accounting and operational policies and reports are in place and followed;
Overseeing all legal and regulatory compliance issues;
Monitoring the quality and effectiveness of the Foundation and individual programs;
Managing the financial stewardship of the Foundation within the parameters established by the Board and Finance Committees;
With the Foundation President, working with the President and Deans of the College to ensure strong support for the College’s programs;
Participating as appropriate in College planning to ensure that the Foundation’s activities meet the needs of the College;
Participating as appropriate in the implementation of important College initiatives;
Supporting the Board and the College through open communication regarding problems as they come up, trends, opportunities or general concerns;
Representing the Foundation within the College’s service districts and cultivating relationships with businesses, individuals and other constituencies.
The Executive Director is the spokesperson for the HCC Foundation and coordinates public relations and communications for the Foundation working collaboratively with College staff. The Director will be required to serve on assigned committees and/or task forces and attend and participate at convocation and commencement ceremonies, department and special meetings, and state-mandated training. Work schedule may include evenings and weekends.
SALARY RANGE: $73,400 - $125,000 approximate annual salary, with full benefits package.
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to college development such as business, association management, public relations or alumni relations and five (5) years of experience in development plus a minimum of two years of supervisory experience;
Master’s degree in a field related to college development such as business, association management, public relations or alumni relations and two (2) years of experience in development plus a minimum of two years of supervisory experience;
Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following areas:
Impact at a college, particularly a community college, on student lives;
Public and organization or association relations at an executive level;
Effective oral and written communications;
Proven track record of major gift fundraising, including planned giving;
Demonstrated budget and fiscal management;
Demonstrated management and supervisory skills;
Public relations skills;
Fund-oriented strategic planning.
