The major gift officer (MGO) is a passionate advocate for reproductive and sexual health who is deeply motivated to help donors reach their philanthropic goals and ambitions while advancing the mission and vision of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri.
The MGO is an individual who is flexible in responding to the needs of a fast moving and dynamic organization. The MGO will expand PPSLRSWMO’s base of support by managing a portfolio of donors through identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
The MGO will also help donors understand and identify their areas of passion among our four affiliated organizations, which together create one mission for providing sexual and reproductive health in our region. The MGO will work collaboratively with the VP of Development to grow a robust major gifts program and to co-lead a successful volunteer fundraising program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Manage a new portfolio of approximately 150 qualified donors and prospects to secure major and planned gifts at the four, five, and six figure level
•Create and implement moves management plans for their portfolio for all aspects of the giving cycle, including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
•Work collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, board, and staff to cultivate and solicit donors for organization-wide priorities (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor meetings and communications)
•Approach donor strategy with the longevity of the organization as well as the donor’s immediate intent in mind, integrating planned and long-term stewardship plans as part of the solicitation and cultivation process
•Along with the VP of Development, co-lead the development committee and volunteer fundraising efforts
•Along with the VP of Development and Director of Development Operations and Annual Fund, assist in developing segmented stewardship strategies across all levels of giving
•Record donor interactions, relationships, and other relevant information in the donor database
•Represent the organization at meetings, community events, and conferences
•Assist with other fundraising projects as requested by the VP of Development and/or CEO
Five to seven years of front line major or planned giving fundraising
Energetic professional with track record of building donor relationships, closing gifts in the five to six-figure range and upgrading donors from annual to major gifts.
Exemplary communication and customer service skills with a drive to consistently delight and exceed donor expectations.

Master's degree and/ or CFRE
501c4/ Political fundraising experience
