The Assistant Director of Development for Diversity & Inclusion will serve as a major gifts officer on behalf of Ohio University for the Office for Diversity and Inclusion and for University Advancement. The successful candidate will be responsible for the identification of major-gift and potential leadership annual gift donors; initiate first alumni contact for the dean, faculty and other administrators; maintain development travel schedules; coordinate with all development staff and gift stewardship activities with donor engagement; work closely with University Advancement’s Corporate & Foundation Relations office, Gift Planning office, and Annual Giving office on strategies for donors related to those gift vehicles; coordinate strategic development events; the development of a major gifts pipeline to build a qualified prospect base for the assigned college/unit and/or project; serve as liaison between the faculty, staff, students and potential supporters (individuals, corporations and foundations); serve as fundraising liaison among the faculty and staff for the Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of the Vice President for University Advancement. The strategic fundraising initiatives could support, but are not limited to the LGBTQ+ Center, Ebony Bobcat Network (EBN), Women’s Center, Multicultural Programs, Office of Multicultural Student Access and Retention (OMSAR), etc. The successful candidate must be a self-motivated person with a willingness and ability to travel extensively.
Primary Accountabilities: 1. Serve as development officer for the Office for Diversity and Inclusion by managing and meeting priorities and goals that coincide with strategic plans as defined by University Advancement and the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion. 25 % of Time 2. Identify constituents that may provide private support to Ohio University while acting as fundraiser/strategist/advisor for the assigned colleges/units and/or projects and secure dollar commitment at a level established by leadership. 20 % of Time 3. Plan, implement and coordinate cultivation activities for prospects and donors. Initiate, develop and coordinate delivery of proposals to prospective supporters. 20 % of Time 4. Work collaboratively with corporate & foundation relations, gift planning, annual giving and development staff as needed to verify, cultivate and solicit constituents for major gifts for the university and work with appropriate campus offices to plan implement and oversee stewardship programs. 20 % of Time 5. Interface with the external relations agents (i.e. Alumni Relations, Deans, and individual unit/project personnel) to coordinate events and activities involving alumni in the pursuit of identifying, cultivating and soliciting leadership annual gift and major gift prospects. 15 % of Time
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university required
- At least one (1) year of fundraising experience in identifying, cultivating and soliciting constituents to secure major gifts for non-profits, sales experience, or demonstrable related experience
