Royal Roads University
The Advancement team plays a vital role in the future of Royal Roads University, guiding fund development activities that support Royal Roads’ vision to connect people, ideas, experiences and cultures to change lives and the world. Royal Roads’ integrated fund development program supports institutional priorities, building on the university’s commitment to provide exceptional learning and research opportunities that solve problems and create opportunities in the world. The incumbent is a fundraising professional who has the ability to lead a strategy to cultivate and solicit major gifts, to contribute to developing Royal Roads’ own unique engagement opportunities and to continually enhance our best practices. With experience in raising major gifts ($25,000 or more) and the skills to work effectively within a learning organization, the Senior Advancement Officer will be adept at engaging stakeholders both inside and outside of the organization. Reporting to the Advancement Manager, the Senior Advancement Officer applies superior organizational and interpersonal skills to identify, build and enhance a robust network of individuals, corporations and foundations that support the mission, vision and values of Royal Roads University. As Senior Advancement Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a wide range of engagement strategies that create opportunities for philanthropic and sponsorship revenue. Under the general guidance of the Advancement Manager, you will be primarily responsible for identifying and then nurturing donor relationships, writing partnership agreements and student award terms, and managing funds using Royal Roads’ internal policies and procedures. This key role also brings experience of fundraising programs, appeals and communications to developing Royal Roads’ own unique engagement opportunities and to continually enhancing our best practices. You will take the lead on special projects or assignments, assess fundraising data, conduct research, contribute to donor-centric communications and have a key role in designing, planning and organizing appeals, programs, special events and other activities. You may mentor or coach team members and will contribute to best practices in a learning organization. You will consult with faculties and departments and identify opportunities where donors can be instrumental in enhancing the university's programs, applied research and student support. The Senior Advancement Officer presents and promotes a consistent image for Royal Roads as a unique university of international calibre at the service of the community.
