Development - General, Donor Relations/Stewardship, Major Gifts

Performs the administrative duties of planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating special development efforts. Responsibilities may include: cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual, foundation, and corporate support for the TTU/System; adherence to the prospect management system; and plans, coordinates and evaluates development goals. Work is performed under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative.
The Assistant Director of Development will be responsible for raising major gifts ($25,000+) to further the mission that Texas Tech University has implemented as a Tier 1 Research Institution.
Manage a portfolio of major giving prospects focusing on building relationships by making face-to-face visits with donors and prospects monthly, presenting proposals, and soliciting major gifts.
Serve as the liaison between the unit/center and Institutional Advancement
Enter contact reports after each visit to ensure donor records are kept up to date.
Work collaboratively with the head of the unit and/or center and Institutional Advancement to promote development at alumni and special events to improve donor relations
With assistance from the head of the unit and/or center, develop and oversee a comprehensive development program for meeting the area’s funding needs on an annual and long-term basis.
Meet goals for visits, asks, and gifts secured and established each fiscal year
Engage in effective interpersonal relationships; work cooperatively with the Texas Tech Institutional Advancement team and the unit/center and staff appropriate

Please note, this position requires a Bachelor's Degree plus one (1) year development or sales experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience equal to five (5) years.
Additional Salary Information: Compensation will be commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. Projects include a traditional archive, oral history project, Virtual (digital) Vietnam Archive, and educational programs to include study abroad and conferences.
