Development - General, Donor Relations/Stewardship, Grants
The Director of Corporate Development plays a leading role within Goodwill’s Development team to engage Bay Area and national corporations in direct and major financial support to Goodwill Industries SFSMM. The Director identifies, secures, maintains and expands opportunities with the organization’s most significant portfolio of corporate relationships. The Director of Development reports to the Vice President of Development and works closely with the Development staff.
Working with the VP of Development, obtain key meetings with Corporate Philanthropic staff
Design and create corporate engagement procedures, criteria and methods
Generate Major Corporate Financial support for Goodwill Industries SFSMM
Design and implement a Corporate Benefits program
Collaborate with Mission Advancement to design Corporate volunteer programs
Identify and solicit relevant gifts in kind
Effectively act on prospect research
Working with Prospect Research & Management, design and create a new stewardship system
Working with Mission Advancement and Operations, create workforce hiring partnerships
Identify potential Cause Marketing partnerships for Goodwill Industries SFSMM
Support cultivation events as needed
Maintain accurate database records for Corporate Development
Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree Business, Nonprofit Management or related field preferred
5 years related work experience in development / corporate giving programs for non-profit organizations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums (in person, phone and electronic-based)
Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse group of individuals from a variety of educational, social and economic backgrounds
Respects and has knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one’s own, able to work effectively with all
Strong analytical ability, problem solving skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize and work well under the pressure of deadlines
Exercise good judgment with the ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
Possess a professional demeanor, poise under pressure, and well developed time management skills
High proficiency with intermediate to advanced tasks within Microsoft Office Suite applications and various cloud based office applications
Demonstrated operational leadership skills including ability to develop, implement and realize corporate goals and objectives
