Here’s Where You Come In:
As the Corporate Relations Manager, you will work closely with the Development Director, local Executive Directors, Program Directors and other development staff in the Playworks Northern California region to both support and drive the growth and strategic response to an ever-increasing demand for the organization’s programs and services in the Bay Area. In this dynamic role, you will manage the prospecting, outreach, cultivation, and stewardship of a significant portion of our Northern California corporate relationship portfolio, with a focus on both corporate grants and active employee / corporate engagements. This position is a key resource in advancing Playworks’ goals relative to building strong, multi-year relationships with corporate partners in Northern California, primarily in the Bay Area. You will play a significant role in the corporate revenue generation portion of our annual ~ $2MM development goal. You will be a collaborative and innovative leader for the Playworks Northern California region, with an understanding of strength-based organizational culture, passion about Playworks’ mission and a commitment to education and youth development.

This position will report directly to the Northern California Development Director, and work from our three Bay Area offices (San Francisco, East Bay, and Silicon Valley) - in close collaboration with Directors from each office to meet our strategic goals and objectives.
Specifically, you will manage Northern California corporate relationships in the following ways:
Corporate Partnership Management - Cultivate and steward strong, ongoing corporate partnerships. In close collaboration with the Development Director, the local Executive Directors, and other regional development and program professionals, you will:
Co-design and implement a multi-year corporate development plan for the region.
Conduct research and outreach to develop new corporate relationships.
Support regional directors to steward relationships with prospective and current corporate funders.
Craft proposals for submission to both potential and existing corporate partners.
Attend, assist and represent Playworks at various key fundraising. events/functions, speaking engagements, tours, and other programs in a effort to build Playworks’ visibility in the corporate sector.
Conduct site visits with corporate leaders, as needed.
Corporate Grantmaking - Under the guidance of the Development Director, collaborate with development team members focused on foundation and institutional giving, to ensure cultivation and stewardship of corporate foundation relationships by providing support with research and prospecting to identify corporate grant opportunities - and by supporting relationship building efforts with key decision makers in the philanthropy divisions of current and prospective corporate partners.
Corporate Engagements - Manage and ensure high-quality implementation of Northern California corporate engagements. In close collaboration with our Program Directors and other regional development and program professionals you will:
Generate leads for and ensure successful implementation of corporate engagements.
Develop and manage master calendar for all regional corporate engagements.
Coordinate Northern California engagements requested by corporate partners.
Design and implement strategy to engage corporate volunteers post-engagement. Ensure timely and effective follow up, working with local team(s).
Envision and pilot new or blended opportunities for innovative corporate engagement.
Corporate Event Coordination - Ensure the success of our corporate-geared events. You will:
Consistently cultivate and steward corporate relationships toward participation in larger regional events (e.g. Kickball tournaments, annual Get in the Game Gala).
In collaboration with the Operations and Development teams, oversee the high quality implementation of our annual Kickball tournaments, including coordination of roles in Operations and Marketing towards overall event success.
Generate revenue opportunities for our annual Get in the Game Gala - through recruitment and management of corporate sponsors - and together with Northern California leadership and the National Development team, support the coordination and successful delivery of this signature event.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education required.
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in corporate fundraising, employee engagement, and/or sales.
Strong knowledge of effective fundraising strategies including corporate employee volunteer programs, with documented history of successful fundraising development, nonprofit management, and corporate and/or employee engagements.
Demonstrated success in the sales and relationship-building process.
Experience with grant writing - corporate grant writing is a plus.
Excellent communication skills, to include comfort engaging and partnering with a variety of stakeholder groups, including corporate executives, board members, program directors and other senior leaders both in person and in writing.
Passion and enthusiasm for language, writing, persuasion, and connecting meaningfully with varied constituencies.
Ability to strategically manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail to produce results under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment .
Demonstrated success in building strong relationships among teams; working collaboratively and thoughtfully focusing on a commitment to teamwork with the ability to proactively plan and delegate to team members.
Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, team-oriented, and mission driven environment that places a strong value on collaboration.
The strongest candidate will have the demonstrated ability to combine professionalism with effective interpersonal skills that positively reflects Playworks and builds strong and effective internal and external relationships.
Regular travel throughout the Northern California region is required. Travel will be widely dispersed across the region, therefore daily access to reliable transportation is required.
