The Director of Individual Philanthropy serves as an extension and right hand to our VP of Development. As a senior member of the Development team, you will lead the development and implementation of key fundraising programs and strategies for the cultivation of individual donors and major gifts.
This role will give you the opportunity to organize SEO’s individual donor outreach, cultivation, and stewardship, as well as interact with notable donors/prospects and senior leaders at SEO. Serve as trusted and strategic partner to the VP of Development as well as an advisor to senior leaders at SEO and our board members
Lead the strategic development and execution of individual giving fundraising programs, goals and strategies
Collaborate with the VP of Development to deepen our relationships with donors and prospective donors
Oversee in-house project management of SEO’s major fundraiser, the Annual Awards Dinner and lead cultivation efforts of any donor leads generated from the event
Collaborate with the Development Operations Manager to oversee the organization and integrity of our donor database
Oversee fundraising activities and events related to individual donors such as site visits, one-on-one meetings for key solicitors, receptions, dinners, other events.
Provide strategic direction on prospect research and development of pitch materials, updates/reports, as well as talking points and scripts for donor even
Oversee plans to quantify moves management and outcome goals.
Collaborate with our Communications team to relevant media campaigns and marketing collateral
Represent VP of Development at meetings of senior SEO leaders as needed
Other relevant duties as assigned

Results-Driven – You have an excellent track record of outcomes in the fundraising space by identifying and securing new and existing revenue opportunities
Communication – In this role, you will be frequently interacting with high-level donors and constituents. Excellent communication skills, intellectual depth and a professional presence are very important.
Team Leadership – As the Director of Individual Philanthropy, you will be working within a team of eight individuals and will serve as a senior leader on the team providing direct management to three individuals.
Strategic – Strategic thinker with an ability to assess the effectiveness of fundraising programs and events
Organized – Must be well adept at managing multiple and often competing priorities to meet results in a timely manner and efficient manner.
Technological Capability - Proficient in the use of computer technology including Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce
Bachelor’s degree required
Five-plus years fundraising experience with progressing levels of responsibility
Experience managing or leading a team of two to four junior to mid-level professionals
Ability to empathize with colleagues and individuals from a range of backgrounds and experiences
Available to work some evenings and weekends
