Following unprecedented growth in its fundraising program over the past six years, Central Washington University seeks a proven fundraising professional to add to its University Advancement team. The Director of Development – College of Education and Professional Studies will have the opportunity to partner with a seasoned dean, departmental chairs and engaged faculty in the pursuit of major philanthropic gifts.
Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for University Advancement, with a dotted line to the Dean, the Director of Development will provide leadership and support for development and fundraising activities for the CWU College of Education and Professional Studies.
The incumbent, working with university advancement and college leadership, designs and implements strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, close and steward gifts from alumni, parents and friends of the university.

Bachelor’s degree AND 3 years of direct fundraising experience including major gifts in a non-profit organization.
Strong communication skills: written, oral and active listening.
Understanding of external client/stakeholder base and an appreciation for stakeholder expectations, desire, and needs.
Experience adapting identification, cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship programs for appropriate groups and key individuals.
Demonstrated appreciation and understanding for the fund-raising cycle: identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
Experience with development processes including donor prospect tracking and moves management as documented on the Raiser’s Edge software system (or comparable software system).
Experience working in a metrics driven environment.
