Located in Arlington, Virginia, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) has inspired global change and supported efforts that generated over $1 trillion. AFP's over 33,000 individual and organizational members raise over $100 billion annually, equivalent to one-third of all charitable giving in North America and millions more around the world.
Directs communication between AFP International Headquarters (AFP IHQ) and the Chapters. Uses a variety of platforms to strengthen the relationships and to connect the Chapters while enabling them to support the Association’s mission. Develops Chapter Leadership programs and assists Chapters to enhance local initiatives.
Responsibilities and Duties
Chapter Management: Collaborates with the Chapter Engagement department to ensure the effective communication and training of Chapter leaders.
Chapter Website Program: Manages the overall Chapter website program. Develops and delivers training materials and courses designed to help Chapters maintain their websites offered on a common platform provided by AFP IHQ.
Chapter Leader Engagement: Develops, manages and moderates online engagement opportunities and communities for Chapter leaders. Chapter Leader Communications: Develops and coordinates content for monthly newsletters for Chapter leaders. Works with other AFP IHQ departments as needed to ensure they receive up to date information.
Chapter Leader Training/Development: Assists in creating leadership development opportunities for Chapter leaders, including orientations, strategic conversations, Chapter Management sessions, the Chapter Board Workshop, Like Size Chapter Meetings, and Chapter Award programs.
Web-based Compliance and Recognition: Develops online collection tools for Chapter compliance, recognition programs and scholarship applications, including: Professional and Collegiate Accord, Ten Star and Ten Star Gold, Friends of Diversity, Chamberlain Scholarship, Diverse Communities Scholarship, and Fellowship in Inclusion and Philanthropy Program.
Collegiate Chapter Program: Staffs the Collegiate Support Committee. Creates innovative ways to enhance and grow the collegiate Chapter program. Provides guidance to collegiate Chapter leaders and implements services to help collegiate Chapters meet member needs.
International Initiatives: Staffs the International Development Committee and creates engagement opportunities for international members and Chapters. Manages the International Buddy Program at the International Conference.
Supervision: Supervises the Chapter Engagement & Membership Coordinator
Qualifications and Skills:
Must be innovative, creative and highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interact well with individuals from all levels of the organization with varying skill levels and personalities.
Must have the ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through with details.
Must have extensive experience with a variety of technology platforms and tools, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, AMS databases, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, web content management systems, and registration and event software. Web programming experience is a plus.
Must be willing to keep up on the latest technologies and learn new skills in a rapidly evolving environment.
Must have a strong service orientation towards both internal and external clients.
Organized, detail oriented, customer service oriented, strong communication, writing and technical skills
Education, Experience, and/or Training Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent years in experience
Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of work experience with increased program or project responsibility required; experience with a not-for-profit organization strongly preferred. Personal volunteer experience a definite plus.
Effects on End Results: Facilitates the flow of information between AFP IHQ and the Chapters. Enables Chapters to meet their goals with support from AFP IHQ and strengthens the relationship between AFP IHQ and Chapters.
