Development - General, Donor Relations/Stewardship, Marketing
Reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP) for Advancement and Alumni Engagement (AAE), the Senior Associate Vice President for (SAVP) for Strategic Communications will be responsible for the development and coordination of a program of comprehensive marketing communications, donor relations, events, and broad-reach support solicitations. The SAVP will provide strategic oversight to promote and enhance all efforts related to interaction with key University constituents, including alumni, parents, grateful patient’s, volunteers, donors, and organizations. Develops a cohesive view of constituent engagement and donor impact communications. Recommends appropriate communication and engagement strategies and programs to generate gifts to support Emory’s strategic priorities, educational, research, and/or patient care activities. Provides assistance to the SVP and AAE leadership, and other stakeholders in identifying and implementing marketing opportunities that strengthen the University’s relationship with its constituents. Build consensus among colleagues with diverse points of view. The Senior Associate Vice President will lead the communications, donor relations, events and giving/constituent engagement teams. The position will work with colleagues across the schools and units serve as the lead strategist in advancing constituent giving and donor solicitation. Develops and implements an integrated and cohesive strategic communications plan to advance the University’s fundraising efforts; broaden awareness of programs and activities; increase the visibility of programs across key constituent audiences. The SAVP will identify external challenges and emerging issues faced by the Division and University, working with the Leadership Team to recognize marketing opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them. Develops all elements of the Division’s social business, designing and driving social media strategy and tactics. Leads teams responsible for: creating effective solicitation programs, strengthening donor relationships through comprehensive donor management, recognition, and stewardship programs, and special events that engage stakeholders in experiences that connect alumni and all constituencies to the University. Serves as a primary liaison and partner with University Communications. Performs other related duties as required.
Bachelor's degree (Masters Preferred) and ten years of successful communication and marketing, preferably in a major gift program in an educational or healthcare setting. Demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and administering programs related to annual giving and direct marketing, comprehensive fundraising campaigns, and donor relations. Ability to set strategy and effectively manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and build consensus with stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based matrixed environment.
