Annual Giving, Development - General, Donor Relations/Stewardship

The Vice President of Development is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all TaxWatch fundraising activities to ensure income stability and growth. This includes donor cultivation and solicitation, annual giving, program and event sponsorships, planned giving, grants, and marketing activities as requested. The fundraising team engages current donors and cultivates prospective donors to ensure positive, ongoing relationships. This position is a leadership position that is directly responsible for fundraising and managing the success of a team of 2-3 fundraisers.
Work with the Executive Vice President and the President & CEO to establish annual fundraising goals that support the organization’s budget requirements and develop a fundraising plan with achievable goals and objectives. Achieve or exceed stated goals.
Identify and solicit prospective donors to support TaxWatch operations, programs and events and Endowment. Coordinate ongoing cultivation, solicitation, communication and recognition of new donors.
Maintain and further develop stewardship program for ongoing communication with and recognition of current donors at varying levels of support (new, major, sustaining, etc.) including all marketing needs.
Develop and implement a plan to increase corporate support/sponsorships/membership.
Follow-up on leads for prospective donors generated by board, staff, volunteers and prospect research.
Plan, coordinate and execute all appeals, including data tracking and timely acknowledgements.
Oversee the successful data entry of donor information and interaction notes in [database name] and work with Development Directors to ensure successful generation thank you letters, pledge reminders, appeals, etc.
Coordinate and manage events and the sponsorships for events and programs in conjunction with TaxWatch staff, leadership and committees; Events and programs include: The Annual State of the Taxpayer Dinner, the Citizenship Institute, the Annual TaxWatch Productivity Awards, the Annual TaxWatch Principal Leadership Awards, and Annual Spring and Fall Meetings.
Work with Executive Vice President as needed to research, compose, submit, and/or follow-up with grant requests, and to cultivate relationships with decision-makers of funding organizations.
Provide development reports for Executive Vice President, leadership and Board of Directors as needed
Analyze data to stay abreast of funding opportunities, donors who are ready for moves management to a higher level of engagement, strengths and weaknesses within the organization and development departments, as well as insights that will capitalize on current programs and projects. Make reporting available to management as requested and be prepared to report in-person as needed.
Inform leadership about the feedback provided by donors/supporters and about potential problems or losses of support
Prepare to work on the implementation and administration of an estate planned giving program within two years.
This position manages the development team and reports to the President & CEO through the Executive Vice President.
Plan and implement strategic activities to increase awareness and understanding of the organization’s programs and services and that result in positive exposure and increased support for all areas.
Cultivate relationships with people engaged in area businesses, organizations and professional associations.
Cultivate relationships with area media representatives, providing information and story leads.
Represent the organization through presentations and speaking engagements throughout Florida.
Oversee creation and distribution of weekly email newsletters and member/donor emails.
Ensure regular updates on TaxWatch’s website, Facebook page and other social media sites in cooperation with the Communications Team.
Execute other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Vice President or the President & CEO.

Please apply for this position if you...
hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or a relevant field;
have five years of experience in professional fundraising/development;
are experienced managing donor gift programs, processes and databases;
have some familiarity with the Florida area political, business, and philanthropic communities;
have excellent skills using MS Office and CRM software, or the equivalents;
have the interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively in all forms; and
are organized, quick on your feet, possess mature judgement and a superior relationship builder
Additional Salary Information: Salary is negotiable depending on ability and fit.
