The American Medical Association (AMA), the nation’s largest professional Association of physicians, has a dynamic opportunity for the right individual in our Washington, DC office. As Major Donor and Fundraising Program Manager, you will plan, develop, and implement AMPAC major donor fundraising programs including special events and membership benefits. You will also coordinate AMPAC Board member fundraising activities, increase AMPAC visibility in AMA publications, and produce communications vehicles to promote all levels of AMPAC membership.
Other Responsibilities will include:
Fundraising planning, development and implementation:
Create and implement strategies to increase AMPAC major donor participation through solicitations, manage membership benefits, recognition programs and special events for major donors.
Coordinate the selection of candidates to benefit from in-kind fundraisers with RPDs, lobbyists, and Federation staffs and oversees all aspects of event planning including the oversight of outside vendors and travel to in-state event.
AMPAC Board Support:
Coordinate and assist AMPAC Board members fundraising activities including peer-to-peer major donor solicitation responsibilities.
Provide support to AMPAC’s Board of Directors for onsite meeting activities during AMA meetings and special AMPAC Board meetings; create materials for AMPAC Board members, develop and provide relevant training for AMPAC Board members.
Develop print and electronic communications vehicles to promote AMPAC including materials for members of AMPAC major donors programs and potential donors.
Coordinate activities to increase AMPAC visibility in AMA publications and direct communications with AMPAC members and potential donors.
Conduct qualitative and quantitative PAC marketing research.
Advise AMA and Federation staffs on federal election compliance issues relating to in-kind fundraising for federal candidates.
Maintain network of contacts in Washington, DC among political organizations, associations and corporate community to arrange and promote fundraising events for Members of Congress and other federal candidates.
Minimum five years of experience working with political action committees or equivalent experience in political fundraising or membership programs. Experience with organizations with affiliated entities.
Minimum five years’ experience in federal or state political campaigns, direct marketing, advertising or association membership programs. Emphasis on major donor programs and fundraising events is essential. Capitol Hill and Washington, DC experience preferred.
Minimum three years’ experience developing, writing and executing fundraising and promotional materials for multiple candidates or state-based programs.
Superior written and oral communications skills required. Five years of written communication experience in a professional environment.
Extensive experience working with direct mail and marketing vendors and contractors.
Skilled at managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
Strong computer and management skills required, including database, mail-merge and budgetary programs.
Knowledge of Federal Election Commission regulations pertaining to political action committee fundraising required. Experience complying with new Congressional Ethics Guidelines required.
