The Geisinger Health Foundation seeks a Senior Director of Planned Giving. This individual is responsible for the day-to-day operational oversight, collaborative and strategic planning, implementation and the coordination of a comprehensive planned giving program for the Geisinger Health Foundation community. The Senior Director will lead the program by appropriately and consistently promoting and facilitating various planned giving opportunities and methods for donors and prospects. The Senior Director will work with the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO), Vice President of Philanthropy and System leaders to advance the philanthropic commitment by patients, physicians, employees, community members and others in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and donors’ wishes. The selected candidate will perform his/her duties to support the goals and objectives of the health system in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Additionally, the position will be directly involved in the identification, cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of major and leadership gift donors.
Success in this position will require a high level of collaboration and partnership across the entire spectrum of the Foundation’s infrastructure. The Foundation encompasses Fundraising, Information and Donor Services, Alumni Relations, Communications, and Events. The Senior Director will partner with various colleagues within the Foundation including, but not limited to, Senior Leadership, Annual Giving Officers, Major Gift Officers, and Operations and Communications to launch new initiatives aimed at delivering best-in-class planned giving opportunities to Geisinger’s donor community. The selected candidate will manage and establish all Geisinger planned giving reporting materials, messaging and content with intent to grow the level of planned gifts and lead brainstorming discussions to create initiatives and activities on an ongoing basis to promote planned giving.
The Senior Director of Planned Giving reports to Robin Endicott, Vice President, Philanthropy.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Interfaces with outside service providers such as attorneys and accountants in management of strategic partnerships and pursuit of evaluation negotiations and programmatic opportunities.
Oversees the organization and analysis of prospect research data to support Planned Giving.
Serves on committees as assigned by the CPO to maintain awareness and understanding of clinic, hospital, physician and program needs to plan and recommend appropriate fundraising strategies.
Develops and manages a successful personal portfolio of leadership giving prospects and serves as a strategist for moves management and donor cultivation activities.
Interacts internally and externally with legal and consultants as needed in role to facilitate gift commitments with Geisinger.
Organizes and provides fundraising advice and support to the CPO, physician leadership and the organization at large.
Builds and successfully cultivates and solicits from a personal prospect portfolio of approximately 50-75 prospects, including VIP prospects.
In collaboration with the Foundation events and stewardship teams, hold separate annual events to honor retired employees and the Abigail Geisinger Circle members. Schedule and conduct planned giving seminars for attorneys, CPAs and CFPs.
Working with the Manager Geisinger Health Foundation Communications, design and send regular planned giving email updates.
In coordination with other Foundation leaders, ensure the timely processing of quarterly disbursements to Charitable Gift Annuity donors.
Keeps leadership informed of issues and seeks direction when appropriate.
Maintains the confidentiality of information received and disseminated from the Foundation.
Respects the privacy of individual colleagues within the Foundation.
Performs other duties when assigned and necessary.

Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree, with Master’s degree preferred.
Five years of proven experience in a position of similar responsibility.
Experience in Planned Giving, and Research preferred.
Demonstrated working knowledge of an integrated health care system is preferred.
