As Prospect and Gift Manager, you play a key role in the overall fundraising efforts for San Antonio Zoo®. Responsibilities include: leading and managing all aspects of prospect management and research, utilize Altru database and other necessary software, and gift processing and acknowledgement.
Other essential duties include, but not limited to:
Review and screen segments of the database to identify Major Gift prospects/suspects. Work closely with the VP for Development in developing a streamlined approach to and the execution of prospect/suspect identification functions. Build and manage a major gifts pipeline and portfolios.
Work closely with the VP of Development to determine the role of prospect research and management of all fundraising campaigns. Develop standards and methods as needed to structure the campaign in Altru, including the use of metrics.
Maintain the integrity of Altru database. Keep up-to-date with wealth information. Update Altru with new biographical data. Manage duplicate constituent records. Provide training and quality assurance as needed on the usage of Altru. Maintain the Policies and Procedures manuals on Altru for the Development Office.
Processes all donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
Maintains foundation, corporation and individual donor files.
Creates monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
Continually updates and corrects database records (electronic and paper).
Conducts preliminary research on prospective corporate foundation and individual donors.
Coordinate productions and mailing of spring and year-end appeal letters.
Tracks donations in the database and keeps a file for each donor. Sends out year-end contribution summary letters.
Sends appropriate documentation to process credits to donors.
Responsible for pledge reminders and acknowledgement program.
Use the professional development tools provided to increase knowledge of the database, and be proactive in learning how to best maximize its use.
Bachelor's degree in a related field required
Minimum of three years' experience in a database management position, preferably in a not-for-profit development office.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Proficiency in a Blackbaud system required-Altru preferred
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to be detail oriented, organized and the ability to prioritize work
Ability to work independently with little supervision
Ability to work with highly sensitiveand confidential information
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work weekends, holidays and occasional after-hour assignments
