Assistant Director of Development/Major Gifts Fundraiser
Washington State University Vancouver seeks an individual to join our Development and Alumni Relations team. We are a dynamic group who strive to connect the university with donors, community leaders and alumni with a focus on philanthropy to enrich our student experiences.
This position is a key member of the development team and is responsible for major gifts and development efforts for various fundraising priorities as defined by the director. There is an emphasis on identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts by individuals (defined as $25,000 and above) in the Southwest Washington/Portland metro and surrounding areas. Position requires a Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which includes eighteen (18) months of full-time fundraising experience which includes demonstrated success of face-to-face solicitation of major gifts, donor stewardship, fund tracking and acknowledgements to donors OR comparable experience and one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
Ability to travel frequently, including some overnight stays.
Ability to use own vehicle for local travel (mileage reimbursed).
Demonstrated success in fundraising or relevant sales, marketing, or public relations positions.
Fundraising experience at a comprehensive public or private research university or similar complex organization.
Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and build strategic relations with colleagues, coworkers, constituents, and volunteers.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Experience in writing proposals.
Experience in managing multiple projects and setting priorities.
Experience with computer applications such as e-mail and word processing programs.
Experience with alumni/donor database applications.
Experience soliciting for major gifts of $25,000 and above.
