Identify and build relationships with and secure investments from corporations to support the strategic, academic priorities of Purdue University and the schools and programs within the College of Engineering.
Work proactively and collaboratively with the Dean of the College and Engineering’s academic leadership as well as the Senior Associate Vice President and central CFR office to identify opportunities to expand current industry relationships and create new corporate partnerships.
Ensure appropriate coordination with other corporate and foundation relations staff across campus and with other University entities that engage companies, including the Center for Career Opportunities, the Office of Engagement, the Purdue Research Park, Sponsored Programs, and other relevant areas.
This individual will be expected to raise a minimum of $2M annually from industry.
The ability to provide strategic leadership to a top 10 Engineering program from a corporate perspective is also essential.
Identify potential sources of corporate support for research and educational objectives in the College.
Interact regularly with corporate representatives to build ties that result in significant funding.
Provide staff support for the College’s administrators and faculty in their visits, contacts, and/or communication with corporations.
Provide guidance and coordination in preparing proposals and soliciting corporations.
Planning and Goal Setting:
Develop comprehensive goals and strategies to broaden and deepen the College’s relationships with key business stakeholders.
Set annual and long-term solicitation goals to help meet the College’s strategic objectives and plans.
Serve as a team lead and team member in conjunction with other CFR officers, faculty and staff.
Cooperate and coordinate with administrators to advance corporate and corporate foundation relationships overall and to increase investment broadly in the University.
Ensure effective records maintenance, including timely filing of requests for prospect assignments, prospect strategies and contact reports, using the University’s prospect management systems.
Continually improve professional competency through participation in and/or leadership in professional, organizational and other not-for-profit organizations.
Regularly participate in University Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations and College of Engineering forums, retreats, training and meetings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated success in fundraising or extensive knowledge of Purdue’s Engineering College.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak before large groups.
Demonstrated ability to develop corporate and foundation relationships, solicit and secure gifts, and write successful funding proposals.
Ability to articulate the mission of Purdue University/Purdue Research Foundation as needed.
Aptitude to interact with stakeholders from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds.
Capacity to use good judgment and to maintain confidentiality. Represent the Foundation with tact and diplomacy at all times.
Ability to travel and perform evening and weekend duties as required.
Valid driver’s license.
Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or other technical or related area.
Purdue Engineering degree preferred.
Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience in corporate relations, business development or related field.
Extensive proposal writing experience is preferred.
