CARE Canada is currently seeking a Sr. Director Fundraising.
The Sr. Director, Fundraising enables CARE Canada to remain firmly in the public eye and is accountable for increasing the levels of private support and funding for the organization’s work. Reporting to the Vice President, Partnerships for Global Change, the Sr. Director provides senior management leadership for the development, oversight and execution of a diversified and comprehensive development plan that is appropriately aligned with the organization’s strategic plan. The Sr. Director sets strategy, projects revenue, and monitors the implementation of programs and budget. Seasoned people leadership experience enables the Sr. Director, Fundraising to build, mentor, support and monitor the performance and engagement of a highly motivated development team. The Sr. Director Fundraising works closely with CARE Canada’s senior management team as well as other CARE International members, and acts as CARE Canada’s representative to external organizations and the donor public. Promote and maintain an organisational culture that advances gender equality, reduces power abuse and inequalities, and fosters trust and safety. The Sr. Director Creates an environment within CARE's workplaces, programming, and communities, that is free from sexual harassment, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation and child abuse (SHEA-CA) and ensures high standards of prevention and response measures for SHEA-CA are in place consistent with the CARE International Policy on PSEA-CP and CI Performance Standards.
What you offer:
Minimum 7-10 years previous fundraising experience (at least 5 years in a senior leadership position) with a major national charity undertaking a national major fundraising campaign and a variety of programs including direct mail, major gifts and corporate campaigns
Ability and proven track record in soliciting, cultivating and closing major gifts and planned gifts ranging from $25,000 to $1,000,000;
Advanced knowledge of current and established fundraising principles and techniques;
Ability to quickly assess the philanthropic community, identify and cultivate new sources of support for the organization;
Proven track record of high level donor cultivation and face-to-face solicitation;
Demonstrated success in crafting and closing major gift solicitations,
Proven successful leadership in corporate, foundation, and individual fundraising;
Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to develop and maintain complex multi-level relationships with corporate partners, individual donors, volunteer boards, committees, peers and support staff;
Ability to effectively articulate the mission, strategic vision and values of the organization to a wide range of internal & external constituents;
Demonstrated ability to effectively balance skills in communication and listening;
Able to leverage contacts with members of the Board, CARE staff and the development community;
Superior organizational, communication (written and verbal), presentation and analytical skills, preferably in both English and French;
Proven ability to take initiative, lead and work effectively as part of a team;
Strong sense of conviction and loyalty to donors and to CARE’s charitable mission and purpose.
