The Office of Development at Stevens Institute of Technology, located in Hoboken, New Jersey seeks a dynamic, experienced, entrepreneurial fundraising professional to fill its Major Gifts Officer role. This position will report to the Director of Major Gifts. You will secure funds for the institution by managing a group of assigned, qualified donors assuring that as many as possible are retained as continuing donors to the organization and are upgraded in their giving and involvement. The benefit of this position will be the satisfaction of helping donors fulfill their passions and interests through giving back to Stevens to ensure its continued success.
Responsible for soliciting gifts of $25,000 and higher from alumni and friends of Stevens
Manage relationships with approximately 50-60 prospective donors and will be expected to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward these very important relationships through Develop strong working relationships with undergraduate alumni, graduate alumni, parents, and friends through which to identify prospects who have the capacity and potential inclination to support SIT.
Work across academic and administrative departments and with senior leaders to understand priorities and engage them as needed to build strong donor relationships.
Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle:
o Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors
o Strong knowledge of the moves management process
o Maintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors
Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments.
Maintain professionalism in all departmental activities and outreach while promoting confidentiality of privileged information
